Kiera is begging you to meet all of the Project POOCH Dogs!

Project POOCH, Inc,® is a non-profit, 501c(3) organization that has successfully paired youths incarcerated at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon, with homeless shelter dogs for over 15 years.

Youths (guided by professionals) learn to train the dogs, groom them, and find them new adoptive “forever homes.”

The dogs leave the program ready to be great pets, while their trainers re-enter the community with new job and personal skills and increased compassion and respect for all life.

Call 503-982-4492 or email to visit, or see the dogs on the web HERE.

June 2009 edition of 'The Portland Upside, positive people, positive stories'

Project POOCH in the News! Director Joan Dalton and Project POOCH were featured in the June 2009 edition of The Portland Upside – Positive People, Positive Stories.

The two-page article gives a good description of the evolution of the program, reminding us of the many kind hearts and willing hands it has taken to reach where we are today.

Project POOCH lost a very special friend this Spring – Charlie ("Champs") Allis brought wisdom and unconditional acceptance as a board member and mentor to Project POOCH youth. The May Special Edition of our newsletter is a tribute to this remarkable man.

Paving the Way to a Brighter Future

Help Project POOCH to provide opportunities for youths in corrections to learn patience, responsibility and compassion for all life through working with dogs.

The pathway to the new meditation garden at Project POOCH will be lined with pavers etched with personal messages from friends and supporters like you, who see the good that comes from bringing together sometimes forgotten young men and often overlooked shelter dogs.
